COLUMBIA - Melanie Katherine Winter Howard, 47, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 after a lengthy battle with health issues.
Melanie was raised in and was a member of Shandon Baptist Church. She graduated with honors from Columbia College with a degree in Early Childhood Education and was a teacher in the Richland School District 1. She also worked as a receptionist in her father’s State Farm Insurance Office.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Howard; daughter, Katelyn Howard; father, Louie and step-mother, Gladys Winter; brothers, Robert Winter (Ann), Steve Winter (Debbie), her Nonnie, Kathie Johnson and Gramps David; Poppa Jimmy Howard and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Johnnie Winter.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2017 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Camp Twin Lakes MDA, 1100 Spring St. Ste. 260 Atlanta, GA 30309.
