WEST COLUMBIA – Myra Jane Camp Thorne, 66, of West Columbia went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 9, 2018 after a short but courageous battle with a brain tumor.
Jane was born April 2, 1952 to the late Alma McGrady Camp and the late Samuel Benjamin Camp in Monterey, California. Jane married her husband, Rick, on February 28, 1975. They shared 41 years together and had two children, Jana and Todd. She was a beloved wife, mother, Lollie, sister, aunt and friend.
Jane graduated in 1970 from Dreher High School in Columbia, SC but attended many different schools across the country and world being in an Army family. Jane retired in 2010 from xPedx/Dillard Paper Company after 35 years to become “Lollie” to her grandsons. Jane had a wonderful spirit and will always be known for her caring nature. She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Jana Thorne Padowicz and son-in-law, Ryan and two grandsons, Robert Elijah and Richard Wyatt, all of Lexington; brothers, Walter David Camp (Debra) of Saluda, SC, Roger Dale Camp of Pelion, SC; sister, Melanie Kress (Bill) of Commerce, GA; sister-in-law, Cindy Camp of Lexington; brothers-in-law, Edwin Thorne of Plymouth, MA, Melville Thorne and sister-in-law, Sue, of Somers, CT and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard George Thorne and son, Richard Todd Thorne; a brother, Daniel Wade Camp; an infant brother, Richard Ray "Dickie" Camp; nephews, Matthew Richard Thorne, William Charles “Bucky” Kress and Benjamin Gerome Camp.
A heartfelt thank you from the family to Arlene Alarico, Aretha Brown and Jocette Freeman, all of Hospice Care of Tri-County, for their exceptional medical care. They made the last weeks of Jane’s life so comforting for her and her family.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the chapel. There will be a private burial.
