Nelson Robert Baker

LEXINTON– Funeral Services for Nelson Robert Baker will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Homes West Columbia Chapel. Entombment will follow the service in the Chapel of Hope at Southland Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Mike Townsend. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service in the Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Heart Association, New Heights Baptist Church or the Parkinson’s Association.

Nelson passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Born December 20, 1929, he was the son of the late David Buick Baker and Katherine Virginia Bowen Baker. He retired as a Master SGT in the United States Air Force, serving two tours in Okinawa, as well as tours in Johnston Atoll and Alaska. Nelson was a member of New Heights Baptist Church, Woodman of the World, American Legion and Dutch Fork Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Futch Baker; Daughters, Cheryl Dodgen (Wayne); Christi Hill (Heath); Grandchildren, Melissa Lawhorn (Trent), David Dodgen (Brittany), Rachel Dodgen, and Cameron Hill; Great Grand-daughter, Olivia Lawhorn; Brother, Eugene J. Baker (Susan); Special Friends, Robert and Patricia Jennings.Nelson is preceded in death by his daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Baker and sister, Loraine Kitson.
