Pauline Wooten Steele

West Columbia - Pauline W. Steele, 82, passed peacefully Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at her home with her family by her side following a long journey with dementia. A daughter of the late, Jesse and Nannie Wooten, she was born, November 3, 1932 in Fairfield County.Ms. Steele was a homemaker who loved to cook and she worked as a cook for South Congaree Elementary School, Oak Grove BBQ, and Porky D’s BBQ where she enjoyed serving others. She loved to sing and always had a smile for everyone. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are J.C. (Buddy) Steele, her children, Freida (Wade) Spivey, Stephen (Nancy) Steele, Sheila (Johnnie) Miller, Charline (Richard) Spangler, Tracy Steele, and Jamison Steele, 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson; sisters, Jeanette Miller, Tency Bergerson; brother, Robert (Pat) Wooten and sisters-in-law, Daisy, Doris and Jean Wooten. She is predeceased by her parents, brothers, Clarence, Clevon, Leroy, Treas, Elree, and Ernest Wooten, sisters, Louise Wooten and Esther Dooley. A homecoming celebration for Pauline will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Caughman Harman Funeral Home West Columbia Chapel, 520 West Dunbar Road with interment in Lybrand Cemetery, Delree Street, West Columbia. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 22, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
