Renee' Rabon Turner

Renee’ began a long life of work, exhibiting a work ethic unequaled. At the age of 15, she began working at an ice cream parlor while in high school. Subsequently she worked at Dunkin Donuts where she was known to provide midnight snacks to the local policeman who patrolled the area making sure she was okay. She served many meals to patrons in local restaurants.

Her career took a different route when she began working at Richland Memorial Hospital and retired from what is now Prisma Health. While there she earned a degree and rose to leadership positions. Because of her love for people and caring concern for her co-workers, many of them called her “Mama”

While battling rare cancer for several years, she refused to give up. The last two years have been most difficult. During that time, she has been blessed beyond measure by her co-workers, friends, family and church family with cards, texts, e-mails, flowers, visits and gifts of love designed to bring joy into her life.

Over the years, Renee’ and Lowell enjoyed weekends fishing and or camping in many lakes, rivers and sometimes cruised on the Ocean. One of their favorites was Lake Jocassee.

Renee’ was preceded in death by her father, W. Kenneth Rabon, Sr., her brother, W. Kenneth Rabon Jr., and her son, Velton Lowell Turner, Jr., better known as “Buddy”. Renee’ is survived by her husband, Velton Lowell, Sr.; daughter, Tina Turner Driggers, granddaughters, Cierra (Jacob), Jannie and Maddie; mother, Bonnie C. Rabon, and brother, Dennis K. Rabon (Kristen). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service for Renee’ will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Caughman Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, 820 West Dunbar Rd. West Columbia, SC 29170 with burial to follow at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 West Dunbar Rd., West Columbia, SC 29170. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service.
