WEST COLUMBIA – Celebration of life services for Ret. SFC Walter W. Breedlove, 65, of West Columbia will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Caughman-Harman Home, West Columbia Chapel with a burial following at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services will be officiated by Pastor Bert Synan and Pastor Indar Singh. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 6437 Garners Ferry Rd., Columbia, SC 29209. Walter was born in Columbia, SC to Walter Breedlove and Ruby Williams Breedlove on March 8, 1953. He passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018. He loved boating, fishing, and watching USC football.
Mr. Breedlove served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam. He was Communication Systems Supervisor and received many honors, awards and medals which include, Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal-3, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Army Good Conduct Medal-(6th Award), Overseas Service Ribbon-3, Non-Commissioned Officer’s Development Ribbon-3, Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Meritorious Service Medal. Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Sandra Barnes Breedlove, daughter, Gracie Breedlove (Trey Peterson); sisters, Sue Breedlove; Elaine Robertson (Skeeter) and Elizabeth Holder (Michael). He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ruby Williams, son, Justin Breedlove and a sister Dale Thomas.The family would like to extend a special thanks for the loving care provided by the Lexington Oncology Department, Dr. James Wells and staff and Compassionate Care Hospice of Columbia.
