

In the spring of 1964, Al, graduated from Marlin High School. Soon thereafter he enlisted into the Marine Corps and did two tours of duty in Vietnam with Echo Company 2/1 2nd Marine 1st battalion as a gunnery sergeant. He was honorably discharged as Lance Corporal in 1968.
He married his sweetheart Pauline Cuevas March 14, 1970 in Marlin and they welcomed their daughter Kimberly, shortly before their 10th wedding anniversary on January 4, 1980.
Al attended Latin American Bible Institute in El Paso in 1971 and Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie Texas in 1975. He dedicated his life to the ministry for 50 years in various capacities. He was the pastor of El Buen Sammaritano in Austin Texas, Youth Pastor of Spanish Assembly of God Church in Marlin, Youth Pastor of First Spanish Assembly of God Church in Waco, He ministered with God’s Creation as an evangelist , and established Higher Ground in Waco in 2001. Due to health reasons, he retired from ministry in April 2013. Al was also employed for over 30 years by Texas Workforce Commission as a Veterans Representative, helping many vets find employment and services, until he retired in 2001 after 9/11.
He is preceded in death by his parents Justo and Julio Ramirez, brother, Marcus Ramirez, In-laws Aristeo and Pauline Cuevas and Paula Rosas and best friend and brother-in-law Edward (Lalo) Cuevas.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife, Pauline Ramirez and daughter Kimberly Ramirez of Waco. Siblings, Paula Grinie of Waco, Nora Ramirez of Waco, Daniel Ramirez and wife Peggy of Columbus Ohio, and Lydia Chavez of Hewitt. Along with a host of nieces and nephews and cousins and his three favorite dogs Tanner, Sophie, and Mia.
Serving as pallbearers are Samuel Grinie, Alex Grinie, Joshua Grinie, Steven Grinie, Christopher Chavez, Irie (Friend) Cuevas and two honorary pallbearers Paul Rodriguez and Bob Chapman.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 6 to 8 PM at Connally Compton funeral home 4400 West Waco Dr.
Funeral service will be held Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11 AM at Faith Walk Church 700 South Robinson Dr. in Robinson Texas. With Pastor Irie Cuevas officiating. Military honors to follow service.
