

He attended Anderson High School in Austin, Texas and graduated in 1949. Inducted in the U. S. Air Force from 1951-1955. He attended Huston Tillotson College in Austin, Texas where he received his Bachelors of Science Degree. He moved to Waco and attended Prairie View Agriculture and Mechanical College in Prairie View, Texas where he received his Masters of Education. He also attended Baylor University where he took Courses in Special Education.
He worked in Gatesville, Texas at the State School for Boys as a Teacher and Counselor for several years where he met his spouse. They both were united with New Hope Baptist Church where he was a faithful worker and received several certificates of appreciation. He was a devoted Husband and Father.
In 1968 he was hired by Waco Independent School District as Principal of Dripping Springs Special Education School. He enjoyed the students as well as the teachers that he had over the years. He retired in June 1990.
He is survived by his Wife, Hommye Zell Bonner of 60 years, his daughters Deirdre Bonner and Debra Bonner-Harrison. Grandson Arthur Ryan Bridgewater and Granddaughter Kacie Zellee Bridgewater. Brother & Sister in Law Willie and Barbara Hobbs of Waco, Texas, Brother & Sister in Law David and Evelyn Davis of Waco, Texas and Brother-in-law Henderson Garrett (Berneice deceased) and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
