

Arthur Fuentes Jr., 72, of Seabrook, Texas, was called home on June 29, 2012 while surrounded by his loved ones after a long battle with leukemia. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Connally-Compton Funeral Home, 4400 West Waco Drive, Waco, Texas, 76710.
Arthur was born April 12, 1940, in Hallsburg, to Arthur Fuentes Sr. and Anastasia Tobias Fuentes. Arthur was blessed with 10 siblings, Candelario Fuentes, Mary Pe–a, Sefarino Fuentes, Cecil Fuentes, Lydia Dashner, Linda Covarrubias, William Fuentes, James Fuentes, Albert Fuentes and Samuel Fuentes.
On Jan. 2, 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Grace Matheson, in Waco Texas. They had four children.
He attended University High in Waco, where he was a Super Centex running back in 1957. Arthur went on to attend Baylor University with a full baseball scholarship, where he lettered in varsity baseball from 1960 to 1962. He developed many lifelong friendships before graduating in 1962.
He worked as a manager for a large retail store chain for 20 years, a career that took him and his family to Dallas, West Virginia, Oklahoma City, Washington D.C., and Houston. He later worked for the City of New Braunfels, where he also was a rancher. He loved to be close to nature, caring for his animals and visiting his extended family on "The Farm". Many cherished memories were created there.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Cecil and James Fuentes; and his parents.
Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca Morris and husband, Donald, of Houston; sons, William Fuentes and wife, Linda, of Garland, and Michael Fuentes and wife, Jacqueline, of Seabrook; and daughter, Stacy Fuentes and friend, Janice Garner, of Waco. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sarah Morris, Michael Fuentes, Isabella, Marisa and Maxmillian Fuentes, and Madeline Fuentes; one great-grandchild, Macy Fuentes; and many nieces and nephews.
