
Visitation will be from 6-8pm on Friday, May 25 at Connally-Compton Funeral Directors. The funeral service will be at 10am on Saturday, May 26 at Connally-Compton with Rev. David Ross and Rev. Amos Humphries officiating. Interment will follow at Rosemound Cemetery.
Curtis served his country as an Air Force officer and pilot for 20 years flying planes ranging from USAAC trainers, to tankers, to USAF first generation jets. Upon retirement in 1966, Curtis began a new career with Goodwill Industries as the Central Texas Operations Director and later retired after 20 years as Executive Director in 1986. He was an active member of the Heart of Texas Military Officer Association of America.
Curtis was active in U.C.T. for many years, and an active charter member of the Waco Senior Kiwanis Club. He served as distinguished President of Kiwanis, and he received Kiwanis’ highest honor, the George F. Hixson Fellows Tablet of Honor. He devoted time and resources to building wheelchair ramps for those in need along with other civic duties to the citizens of Waco.
Curtis was a member of Park Lake Drive Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, devoted father, beloved grandfather and friend to all he met.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Leonard and Nellie Rhodes Ross along with all 13 of his siblings.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter Linda Ann and husband Charles Grisham, son William David and wife Cynthia Broughton, daughter Lucy Elaine Ross, son John Michael and wife Jennifer Ross, grandchildren Drew Grisham, Curtis Grisham, Nathaniel Ross, Valerie Ross, Christopher Ross, Mariya Ross, Darya Ross, Zach Caldwell, Ben
