Joan Harwell

Joan Raborn Harwell, 77, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2012 at a local care facility. Visitation will be Sunday, August 12 from 6-8pm at Connally Compton Funeral Directors. Her funeral service will be Monday, August 13 at 10am at Connally Compton.

Joan was born July 12, 1935 in Eddy, Texas to Newton Raborn and Nova Allen. She helped everyone she could and would do it with a smile on her face. She had a special way of making other people feel better. She was a hairdresser for many years and enjoyed running her shop at Baylor University. In 1990 she found the love of her life, Jack Harwell, and he made her life complete.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Harwell; son, Michael David Schrader; and step father, Edgar Allen.

Joan is survived by her mother, Nova Carpenter; step father Bob Carpenter; son, Greg Schrader and wife Diane; grandchildren, Holly Melton and husband Mark, and Zack Schrader and husband Sabrina; great-grandchildren, Zoey, Damian, Ivy, and Avery; and brother, Darrell Raborn.

The family would to extend a special thank you to Virginia and Gene Witt for everything that they have done for Joan and her family at their time of need.
