Joseph Lee De La Rosa, 90, of Waco passed away surrounded by family on Sunday May 2, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 7, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Benji officiating. The procession to Waco Memorial Park will follow immediately after the service. The family will receive visitors at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Connally Compton Funeral Home, followed by the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Joseph was born November 15, 1930 in Waco TX to Paul and Celia (Garcia) De La Rosa. He was drafted by the Army in 1955 and served in the Korean War. His brigade was Hell on Wheels 2nd Armored Division. Joe was self-employed most of his life. He loved fishing, having bar-b-ques with his growing family, and watching sports. Joe enjoyed listening to music for hours and singing. His love of music lead him to attend many concerts including Elvis Presley, Engelbert Humperdinck, Liberace, and Johnny Rodriquez. Joe was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Preceding Joe in death were sons, Rudy De La Rosa, Jody De La Rosa; grandson Paul Joseph Del La Rosa; parents, Paul and Celia De La Rosa; brother, Frank De La Rosa; and sister, Lupe Chavez.
Survivors include sons, Eddie De La Rosa and Christy of Waco, David De La Rosa and Barbara of Waco, Robert De La Rosa of Houston; daughters Monika Salinas and John of Waco, Stella De La Rosa and Beatrice Salinas of Houston; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren (soon to be 39); two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Michael De La Rosa, Jacob De La Rosa, Josh Riojas, Ricky Stout, Rudy Stout, and Gary Stout.
