Joyce Lorraine Felkner Prater

Joyce Felkner Prater, 76, of Riesel, passed away Sunday at the Regent Care Center of Woodway. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday March 13th at Connally-Compton in Waco. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday March 14th at Connally-Compton with burial in Riesel Cemetery

Joyce was born December 27, 1935, in Waco the daughter of Henry Wesley Felkner and Ethel Harrison Felkner. She was a graduate of Riesel High School class of 1954, a Majorette and a Reporter for the Senior Class Officers. She married George Prater August 17, 1957 at the First Baptist Church in Riesel.

She received a degree of Associate of Applied Science on May 22, 1991 from Texas State Technical Institute. Joyce grew up on the family farm in Riesel, with three brothers, the late Wesley Felkner, of Robinson, TX; William Felkner, of Robinson, TX and Bobby Felkner, of Woodway, TX. Joyce worked as a Bookkeeper until she retired in 1993. She loved to Country dance, scrapbooking and spending her retirement working puzzles and giving them as gifts to all who came to visit.

Joyce is survived by five children: Cynthia Bacon of Killeen, TX; Celeste Cunningham, of Moody, TX; Lisa Prater, of Eddy, TX; Russell Prater, of Arlington, TX and Richard Prater, of Eddy, TX; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
