
Lucy Graham Buenger, 98, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 in Waco, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017 at Wasp Creek Ranch in Crawford, Texas. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the graveside.
Mrs. Buenger was born February 28, 1919 in Galveston, Texas to Arkie Graham and Marie Aline Arnold. Lucy married the love of her life, Otto “Sonny” Charles Buenger, Jr. on Sept. 25, 1937, in Houston. He preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 2012. She was a longtime resident of Hemphill, Texas.
Early in their marriage, Mrs. Buenger worked a short time for the telephone company. She enjoyed announcing callers from the plug-in switchboard with four digit numbers. Mr. and Mrs. Buenger loved to dance and travel. Lucy delighted people by telling jokes and singing old songs from the 1800’s to early 1900’s. They created lifelong bonds with the wonderful people they met during their travels.
Lucy was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dorothy Graham Emmons and Aline Graham Collins; brothers, Billy Graham and Malcom Graham; son-in-law, Ronnie West.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, son, Charlie Buenger and wife, Dana of Crawford; daughter, Donna West of Houston; grandchildren: Otto Charles “Chad” Buenger, IV and wife, Mandi of Hewitt, Justin Buenger and wife, Lauren of Waco, and Michael Prim of St. Louis, MO, Deborah Kowart and husband, Robert, of Austin, Kaylyn Self and husband, James of Houston; great-grandchildren: Weston Kowart, Otto Charles “Holdyn” Buenger V, Landyn Buenger, Aiden Self, Layne Buenger, Reagan Kowart and Hannah Buenger.
The world will not be the same without her. She sang and Sonny whistled. When you think of them, think of happiness.
