Pat was born June 28, 1943 in Hammonton, NJ to James V. and Evelyn (Caporal) Scaffidi. She attended Hammonton High School and graduated in 1961. During the summertime she worked picking berries and various seasonal fruits and later worked at the local cookie factory there in Hammonton. While working she met lifelong friends, Barbara Carreli and Margie Scaffidi. Through the years they have remained in touch even to this day.
Pat later moved to Yuma, Arizona with her dear friend Maureen Keays, and worked as a babysitter for her children, Rose, Denise, Dorothy and Danny. It was there she met and married the love of her life, Arthur “Tony” Martinez. It was love at first site and they have been together ever since 1974. They had two children, Patricia “Tricia” and Vincent “Vinny” who they adored.
In 1984, Tony and Pat moved to Waco Texas to be close to family. And there she worked at the Quick Trip and then later Ben’s Short Stop where she enjoyed giving out bubble gum to the children who came in. They all loved her and would go there just to talk with her.
Pat was a great person; People who knew her always knew they had a shoulder to lean on and an ear to listen. If she considered you her friend, you were a friend for life. In her later years, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life. Two days before her passing she was blessed to attend her grandson, Zachary Butlers, graduation on June 6, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, James Dominic “Jimmy Boy” Scaffidi.
Pats cherished memory leaves behind, her husband Arthur “Tony” Martinez; children, Patricia “Tricia” Butler and her husband Frank of Waco and Vincent James Foster and his wife Deena her two children Dean and Jade of Alaska. Granddaughters: Stacey Marie Billings, Jayme Lynn Foster, Crystal Ann Foster all of Waco and Alisha Elizabeth Ann Butler of California. Grandsons: Vincent J. Foster, Jr., Frank “Zachary” Butler, Kevin Neil and Matthew Peterson, all of Waco. She had 7 great-grandchildren and one on the way that she will get to see from heaven; sisters, Dorothy E. De Stefano, of Hammonton, NJ, and Katherine Renaud and husband Max, of Middleburg, FL. Pat also cherished her nephew, Alex De Stefano and nieces, Evelyn De Stefano , Kathleen Christos , Kim Scotti, and Dee Dee Stout.
