

Selma Bertha Frederika (Luedke) Rutkoski, age 96, went home to be with the Lord on Wed. May 18, 2011 at Wesley Woods Alzheimer’s Care Center in Waco, Texas. Funeral service will be on Sat. May 21, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Walter Albers officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Fri. May 20, at Connally/ Compton Funeral Directors.
Selma was born on Aug. 23, 1914 to Edward and Amelia (Schultz) Luedke in Marlin, Texas.
She married Lloyd Louis Rutkoski in 1934 in Marlin. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1981.
She was a longtime resident of Waco and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Selma loved to cook, sew and quilt. She was employed as a cook at several local nursing facilities and schools. Her life was modeled after Proverbs 31.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Amelia (Schultz) Luedke; brothers, Richard and Rudolph Luedke; sisters, Ella Shaw, Lena Coleman, Meta Copous and Olga Luedke.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her son, Roy Rutkoski and wife, Sandra of Elm Mott; daughters, Barbara Smith and husband, Gene of Waco, Lorene Porterfield and husband, Jimmy of Waco, Linda Kerr and husband Ben of Quitman and Pat Breeland and husband, David of Mart; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family expresses their appreciation to the care givers at Wesley Woods Alzheimer’s Care Center for the loving care given to their mother.
