
Vivian Almanza Powers passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, at home in Waco, Texas, surrounded by her daughter, Annie, and her son, Christopher. She was born November 8, 1953, in Waco, Texas, at Hillcrest to Herbert and Dolores (Lopez) Almanza. Vivian will be remembered as a hard-working, beloved, resilient, selfless, and generous woman whose steady presence meant so much to those who knew her.
After this introduction, she was lovingly known as Mimi to her family. Mimi graduated from Waco High and later married Victor Isaac Powers. A devoted wife and mother, Mimi treasured time spent with family and friends and found deep purpose in serving others. She especially loved volunteering at the Emmanuel Baptist Church food pantry, where her generous spirit and willingness to help reflected the way she lived each day.
Mimi dedicated more than 30 years of service to TXDot. After retiring, she continued working for more than 10 years with McLennan County, a testament to her enduring work ethic and commitment to her community.
Mimi was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Isaac Powers, in 1986. She is survived by her parents, Herbert and Dolores Almanza; her siblings, Xavier (Chub) Almanza, Gracie and husband Jeff Hinkle, and Michael and his wife Maria Almanza; her children, Annie Almanza and Christopher Powers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
