Brenda Joyce Silva

Brenda Joyce Silva, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at Maui Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her loving family on October, 2, 2024. After a long-battled illness, she was called home to find peace and comfort from her pain.

Brenda worked many years at Maui Medical Group and then at Maui Farmers Exchange. Her hobbies included dancing Hula, softball, crocheting, and throwing fishnet. She loved to play her slot machines at Las Vegas! She was the heart of her home and family. She raised her children with love and dedication in Waiehu with her husband and soulmate of 37 years, Gilbert Silva. She was born in Wailuku, Maui on November 9, 1957 to Marion and Emily Fernandez, she is the oldest of 5 siblings. She loved talking stories, and was always willing to listen and give her straight forward opinions. We all will cherish the many laughs shared.Without restraint she always did everything she could for her family. Brenda was known for her strong wit and kind heart. and she will be dearly missed.

Brenda is predeceased by her parents, Marion & Emily Fernandez and son, Sean Bersamin, Sr. She is survived by husband Gilbert Silva; her children, Emily (Conrad) Ka’ai, Shelly Castro, and Crystal (Bradley) Bal, Step children, Gilbert Silva Jr. and Garrett (Maria) Silva; siblings, Natalie Fernandez, Nancy (Eugene) Clark, Mark Fernandez, half brother Anthony Torres (Tony); grandchildren, Catherine, Chauncy, Justin, Giselle, Giana, Naira, Preston, Waylon, Lanaia, Sean Jr. (SJ), Tavi, Beauson and Mason; great grandchildren; Justin Jr. (JJ) and Makoa. She also had many nieces and nephews and was a great-aunt as well.

Services will be held at Norman’s Mortuary on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.Public visitation from 9:00am – 11:00am. Service at 11 am – 12 pm. Burial to follow at Maui Veteran’s Cemetery in Makawao.
