

He is survived by his children John M. Platiro (Madeline) and Gina Puen (Mark), and grandchildren: Tyler Platiro, Tia Platiro, Kealani Puen, Kainoa Puen and Kaili Puen, and great-granddaughter Hadassah Puen.
He graduated from Maui High School in 1958 and went on to serve in the United States Navy. He worked for 40 years at the Wailuku Post Office and retired from the United States Postal Service in 2009.
He loved fishing and spear diving during his younger years. As a member of The Calabash Cousins, he also loved singing and playing guitar, and entertained at hotels and events.
He was loved and will be greatly missed. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
His funeral service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 9:00 am at Norman’s Mortuary, 105 Waiale Road, Wailuku, HI, 96793, and will be followed by burial service at 1:00 pm at Maui Veteran’s Cemetery in Makawao.
