Kenneth proudly served in the Army Air Force for over 40 years, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major, earning numerous awards and medals throughout his distinguished military career. As an aircraft mechanic, his skill, discipline, and commitment were evident in everything he did. Before entering the military, he worked at Theo H. Davies & Co.
He found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. Kenneth loved fishing, working with his hands, tinkering with computers, gardening, and spending time “wrenching” on projects. He was known for making smoked meats, pickling vegetables, and enjoying fresh fish—especially sashimi. He also enjoyed sharing a glass of Crown Royal and good conversation with those close to him.
Kenneth is survived by his son, John Kenneth Vares; his grandson, Spencer David Vares, and his wife, Maile Kekiwi Vares; his great-granddaughter, Muzik Kekiwi Vares; his grandson, Myztik Kekiwi Vares; and his sister, Kathleen V. Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Alves Vares and Eleanor Cravalho; his son, Harold Alves Vares; and his brother, William Elmer Alves Vares.
He will be remembered for his service, hard work, and love for his family.
