Ramona del Castillo Cardona

Ramona D. Cardona, 62, of Wailuku, Maui, passed away on March 22, 2026, at Maui Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on May 7, 1963, at Maui Memorial Hospital to Leonardo Del Castillo and Barbara Planesi.

Ramona lived a simple and meaningful life centered around her family. She worked as a dental assistant for many years and later dedicated her time as a homemaker, caring for those she loved most. She found joy in the little things—especially making her delicious pasteles, watching her favorite Westerns, and tuning in to MasterChef.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Ramon Cardona; her son, Ramon Cardona Jr.; and her beloved grandson, Mateo, who brought her so much happiness. She is also survived by her mother, Barbara Planesi, and stepmother Eva Del Castillo; her siblings, Sonia (Robert) Cabacungan, Lenny (Jennifer) Del Castillo, and Derwin Planesi. She now joins in rest her father, Leonardo Del Castillo; her stepfather, Manuel Planesi; and her sister, Kelly Cardenas.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt mahalo to Maui Memorial Hospital, Dr. Joseph Kamaka, and all their family and friends for their love, support, and prayers during this time.

A service over urn will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Norman’s Mortuary in Wailuku from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., where family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Ramona’s life and share in her memory.

Ramona will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness, her strength, and the love she gave so freely to everyone around her.
