Cindy Froehlich Obituary Cynthia Herma Froehlich (Cindy to her family and friends) was born on May 16, 1957 in Princeton, New Jersey, of Fred and Gloria Froehlich. Growing up, she was a funny, amicable, studious, and free-spirit girl and young lady. After completing her elementary, secondary, and high school education in her native Princeton, she did her undergraduate studies at Indiana University, Bloomington. She went on to pursue her graduate education in Political Science on full scholarship at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. In 1986, she travelled to Guinea, West Africa, on a Fulbright scholarship for her graduate research. She was the first American Fulbright scholar to conduct research in that country for decades. It was then that she met Mohamed Saliou Camara (Saliou to his family and friends) who was coming to pursue his graduate education in the United States, also on a Fulbright scholarship. Cindy and Saliou became the love of each other’s life and tied the knot on July 30, 1989. Always consistent with her spirit of self-empowerment and drive for well-deserved success, Cindy built her Association Management business, Froehlich Associates, Inc., and served as the Executive Director of several medical associations. Over the years, these included the International Society of Dermatology, the American Contact Dermatitis Society, and the Council for Nail Disorders. Her successful business and healthy love for adventure and discovery took her around the world: from France and Germany to Austria and the Czech Republic; from Canada and Britain to Argentina and Brazil; from South Africa and South Korea to the Philippines and India. Whether in her family, among friends, at work and in other social circles (such as the Flagler University Women and similar community organizations), Cindy was a loving, caring, and compassionate lady. Cindy passed away in Maryland on May 5, 2021, eleven days shy of her 64th birthday, in a traffic accident. She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years Saliou, her brothers David and Chris, her nieces Lisa and Katherine, her nephew Jack, her sisters-in-law Susan and Yvonne, her best friend Claire Walton, and a large extended family both in the United States and in Guinea. She will be missed for her enlivening personality, uplifting smile, and gracious hearth. REST IN PEACE CINDY, WE LOVE YOU!

Cindy Froehlich, how do I remember her? Her wonderful voice always sparkling, her winning smile, and her graciousness was always welcoming and attentive .
But all of this camouflaged a very serious young woman. Her organizational skills were critical in building the ACDS from a small organization in 2000 that now is large and influential. When I was ACDS President, I benefited from her many talents. Also, Cindy worked very hard saving our Journal and making our transition to a new publisher smooth. ACDS would not be the strong organization it is today without the work of Cindy Froehlich. My deepest condolences go out to her family.

I am so very sorry to hear of Cindy’s passing. While many of us in the Froehlich family have lost touch over the years I am reminded of how special and important Cindy was and is to so many. What an accomplished life she had ! Thinking of my cousins right now and those I have never had the pleasure of meeting who were special to Cindy. Xo

Cindy,
Thank you for always supporting both my dad and myself both at the ACDS and ISD. Thank you for helping me grow in the dermatology field. To me you were the pumping heart behind the scenes at the ISD and ACDS. Always happy and caring. I will miss you dearly especially next year at the CCD of the ISD in Mexico City. Dear Cindy, thanks and rest in peace dear friend.

I worked alongside Cindy for many years through the American Contact Dermatitis Society. She helped to elevate the society in its formative years. She was always available. She always was pleasant and upbeat, optimistic. She was a hard worker, and a joy to work with. Our society owes Cindy LOTS!!!

I will never forget you, Cindy God bless you Cindy! Rest in Peace.

My heart is saddened by this news. Through my decades with the ACDS, Cindy was always reliable to help with my questions or concerns about the Society, the annual meeting, Board matters, CARD and CAMP, membership, and many other issues. Her historical knowledge of the ACDS served us invaluably in Board and committee work. But far beyond that, she offered me friendly smiles and words, whether on the phone or in person at the meeting, inevitably making me feel known and special. Cindy was a gift in my dermatology career.

We had the privilege of meeting her years ago once and we were so impressed. We had a nice Thai dinner at her house. We remember it like it was yesterday. We pray and cry for her.

I am so sorry to hear of Cindy's passing. She was always very helpful to me whenever I had a problem with the ACDS's allergen database -- even when I was frustrated or less than polite with my inquiries, Cindy always handled them with cheer and professionalism. She truly served the ACDS well and will be missed dearly. My sincerest condolences to her family and friends.
