

Imogene (Imy) Pauline Niemiec, 73 of Waldorf, MD passed away at home on December 8th, 2025. She is survived by her daughter, Tara Dickens, her brothers Allen (Sue) Daas and Patrick (Barb) Daas, her sisters Delleen (Jerome) Kilmek, Juliana (Duane) Pomeranz, Bernadette (Louis) Buermann, Madonna (Louie) Witt, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Niemiec, her parents Frank and Eva Daas, her brothers Kedrick (Leora) Daas, Leander (Ann) Daas, Cyril (Bernice) Daas and her son- in-law Jason Dickens.
Imy was born in Parkers Prairie, MN on April 9th, 1952. She enlisted in the US Army, serving from 1974 to 1977 in Augsburg, Germany where she met and married her husband, Joe. After serving, she returned to the states and raised their daughter Tara, while attending Charles County Community College to obtain an Associate of Arts degree. She then worked for the Charles County School System before beginning her career at the Office of Naval Intelligence. She worked for ONI as a Purchasing Agent until her retirement in 2014.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 8810, AMVETS Post 13, and the Elks Lodge 2421 in Waldorf, MD. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 227 in Brandywine, MD and the Moose Lodge 1709 in White Plains, MD. She enjoyed traveling, reading, fashion, karaoke, gambling and spending time with family and friends.
A visitation for Imogene will be held on Friday, December 19th, 2025 from 12pm – 2pm at Huntt Funeral Home, 3035 Old Washington Rd. Waldorf, MD, 20601 with the service to follow at 2pm. The burial will occur on Friday, January 23rd, 2026 at 1pm at Maryland Veterans Cemetery Cheltenham, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel of Towers Foundation or the Humane Society of Charles County.
