John Thomas Franczyk (70) died unexpectedly in his home in Charlotte Hall, Maryland on January 20, 2021. John was born on April 20, 1950 in Washington D.C. to the late Catherine (Asbury) Franzcyk Bridgett and John Franczyk. He grew up in Prince George’s County, Maryland and graduated from Suitland High School in Suitland Maryland in 1968.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine (Asbury) Franzcyk Bridgett and father, John Franczyk. He is survived by numerous cousins, loving relatives and friends. He loved gardening, wildlife, the outdoors and spending time with family. He was known for taking in stray dogs and cats and caring for them. He was a D.C. Firefighter for many years and retired in 1994. As a D.C. Fireman he earned the privilege of being a Tillerman on Truck 12. He proudly wore his D.C. Fireman’s baseball hat everywhere he went. He loved shopping at Walmart, eating lunch at Chick-Fil-A and gathering with his family for holidays, birthday celebrations and cookouts. He was one of a kind and a good soul. He was always making people laugh with his jokes and had a nick name for everyone.
Private memorial services are being held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in John’s memory to your local Fire Department, ASPCA or Animal Shelter.
