Prior to his death Les had been employed as a government contractor. Previously, he served in the United States Air Force for 28 years and retired in 2005. He earned an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1982. Les graduated from Western Carolina University in 1976 with a BS in Accounting where he was a member of Theta Xi fraternity.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Candler and Mary Hazel Queen.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Conrad Queen, his daughters, Meredith Blair (John) and Kara Queen;
granddaughter, Eve; sister, Brenda Queen Davis and niece Caitlin Davis.
Funeral services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery Chapel on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 9:00 am with graveside honors to follow. The family will be gathering at the Westin Arlington Gateway Hotel, Arlington VA for lunch and to greet guests from 11:30-1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Charles County Maryland.
