

Marsha Ann Scott was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on August 22, 1953, to proud parents Virt Lee (Day) Henderson and Daniel Joseph Smith Sr. Marsha departed this life on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Marsha moved to Washington, D.C. with her family and attended DC public schools and Prince Georges County schools. Upon turning 18, she helped at her family-owned club on Georgia Ave. It was here that she met and married Tyrone Scott, Sr. on September 18, 1971. Their union was blessed with a daughter and two sons, who became Marsha’s pride and joy. Marsha and Tyrone shared 52 years of marriage.
Once her children reached school age, Marsha embarked on a career at C&P (now known as Verizon) telephone company, where she worked diligently until her retirement. Marsha’s passions extended beyond her professional life; she found joy in crafts, bowling, and traveling with friends and family. Her family was the center of her world, especially her grandchildren who held a special place in her heart.
Marsha’s love for cooking and entertaining made her home the heart of family gatherings. Her Christmas dinners were legendary, bringing loved ones together in celebration both near and far. She also had a creative spirit, enjoying painting workshops and diamond art painting. Marsha’s legacy of love, family devotion and creativity will be cherished by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to be a part of her life.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Tyrone Scott, Sr. Her beloved children: Crystal Scott, Tyrone Scott Jr (Sanora), and Robert Scott. Six Grandchildren: Christopher, Cameron, Aija, Tyquan, Destiny, and Randall; Three Great Grandchildren: Aurora (Cameron), Amiyah (Ajia), Mahari (Tyquan). One Godson: George Phillips (Marcia); Five siblings. Daniel Joseph Smith Jr (Patricia), Dwight Smith, Fredia Brinson-Jackson (Arthur), Virt Inez Henderson, Adolph Henderson and a bonus sister Joann Phillips-O’Brien (John), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Marion Day-Carson and Lucille Smith.
