
Russet M. Hodgkins, age 72, of Charlotte Hall, MD died suddenly Friday, Oct. 7. 2022 at St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, MD.
Russet was married to Harry Linton Hodgkins, Jr. on Oct. 9, 1982, and resided Charlotte Hall MD.
Born in Steubenville, Ohio on 4 April 1950 to John Joshua Dickerson and Flora Fair. Russet lived sequentially in Manassas, VA, Atlanta, GA, and Crownsville, MD as her father's job moved before settling in Charlotte Hall in 1970.
She completed High School in Atlanta and spent some time in Finishing and Business schools. She worked variously in Retail Sales and substitute teaching. Her final job was caring for school aged children at a Daycare Center in Upper Marlboro, MD. She held that job for 3 years shortly after marriage.
An avid Doll Collector, Russet was recognized in the doll world as a skilled seamstress who produced many hand made doll outfits for herself and for sale.. She was capable of skilful doll repair and painting. As President of the Black Eyed Susan Doll Club of So. MD she found her primary social outlet: offering her leadership, knowledge, and skill to Club members.
Her house is full of hundreds of dolls, piles of fabric, and a library-worthy collection of Doll related books and magazines. She was also co-owner of six house cats with her husband. Four of the cats were acquired from the humane Society of Charles County where Harry volunteers.
An only Child, Russet was preceded by both parents, and her only close relative is her husband of 40 years. She was cremated by Huntt Funeral Home, Waldorf MD. A "Remembrance Event" will be held at Old Waldorf School in Waldorf for friends on 18 Oct. This is an opportunity for people who knew and cared for Russet to say Goodbye. Tentative time 10:30-1:00 pm.
