Tony was born in Forsyth, Montana, on August 24, 1936 to Lorenzo Castillo and Luciana Contreras. During his time here in the Yakima Valley, Tony spent a significant amount of time working in agriculture which he wholly enjoyed. During his free time, he found great joy in fishing with his brother‐in-law, Roy Knoeb, as well as his grandchildren.
Those who knew Tony will remember him as the type of person who would give you the shirt off of his back. He loved helping others no matter how big the task – he was our go-to man for everything!
Tony is remembered by his companion of 32 years Shirlena LaBombard of Wapato; his siblings Margie, Rita, Lupe, Joe and Nellie; his children Leonard Wood of Federal Way, WA, Kami Wood (Robert Mann) and Danny Wood (Trisha) of Buckley, WA, and Tanya Luke (Grant) of Yakima; his grandchildren Demitrus Wood (Annie Montgomery) of Aberdeen, Tiana Wood of Seattle, Tashaé Gomez-Jones (Ronald Cecil Jr.) and Deezjuan Jones (Jazmin Hernandez) of Yakima, Anthony Wood of Buckley, Jasmine Romero and Alexander Luke of Yakima, Malachi Wood of Federal Way, Ashton and Grant Luke Jr. of Yakima and Jacinta Wood of Buckley; and his great grandchildren Keli, Tiana and Viany Wood of Buckley, Gavin Beavert and Noe Hernandez of Yakima, and Jalaya Tubbs of Buckley. Tony is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews throughout the Northwest and California.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato, WA from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. We would like to invite his family and friends to a potluck luncheon on Friday, September 25, 2015 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wapato Community Center located at 1009 S.
