Guillermo Gonzalez

Guillermo “Willie” Gonzalez- Rest in Peace to my loving husband, father and grandfather who lost a short hard battle with cancer, but won a new life in the Lord as he walked through the gates of heaven on Thursday January 16, 2014.

Willie was born Feb. 17, 1944 in Eagle Pass, Texas to Elisa Hernandez and Tomas Gonzalez. Willie was an avid sports fan, spending many hours watching his kids playing sports-attending all his son’s baseball games what a joy for him. His love for cooking united his family on many weekends and holidays. “His tortillas and chorizo were a family favorite. “ The last 15 years he developed a love for the outdoors passing the time going camping and fishing with family and friends.

Willie is survived by his loving wife, Cathy of 25 years and their two children Aubri and Andrew; his three older children Linda Strom, Terri Gonzales and Willie T. Gonzales; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, his mother Elisa Hernandez and 11 brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by his father Tomas Gonzalez and sister “Pepa.”

Willie’s family would like to extend a special “Thank you” to all the staff at Cottage in the meadow Hospice facility and North Star of Yakima.

A celebration of his life will be held at Merritt Funeral Home on Tuesday Jan. 21, 2014 followed by a service Wednesday at Templo Cristiano in Wapato, Wa.
