

Sidney Jay Hunt Sr., of Wapato, age 33, our loving son, father, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend passed away on October 15, 2012 due to a motor vehicle accident. Sidney was born on February 14, 1979 in Goldendale, WA to Timothy Jay Hunt Sr. and Caroline Looney. Sidney attended school in the Goldendale Public Schools. Sidney was a commercial fisherman on the Columbia River all of his life.
Sidney loved going to the mountains to hunt, fish, and to gather firewood.
He joined the powwow circle as a grass and traditional dancer and traveled to many powwows. He also was enjoyed doing beadwork on a loom. His other hobbies included playing basketball and playing video games with his friends.
Sidney’s warm smile and laugh will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his mother Caroline (Gerald) Looney ; sister Janice Hunt (Brad) both of Wapato; companion Rochelle Barney of White Swan; his sons Sidney Jay Hunt, Jr. of Dallesport, WA and Tyrell Jay Hunt of Wapato; step son Daniel Johnson of White Swan; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Timothy J. Hunt, Sr.; sister Margaret Jae Hunt; brother James Pratt Hunt; and his grandparents Eva Shippentower, Wilkins Looney Sr., James Hunt Sr., and Margaret Sorimpt.
The Dressing Service will be held today at 1:00 p.m. at the Toppenish Longhouse with an Overnight Service following. Departure from the Toppenish Longhouse will be at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2012 to travel to the Wishcum Cemetery in Dallesport, WA.
