

Andrew Skurya, age 98, of Bad Axe, Michigan passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe.
Andrew (Pops) was born on January 4, 1927, in Robertsdale, Pennsylvania, to the late John and Anna (Vesek) Skurya. He married the love of his life, Jane Figurski, on June 10, 1950, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Detroit. Together, they shared 74 wonderful years of marriage.
Andrew worked for the City of Detroit until his retirement. He was a man of many passions, including playing baseball, hunting, fishing, and playing music. He had a special love for his animals and cherished spending time outdoors. Above all, he was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather, offering his love and support.
He is survived by his wife, Jane, and their daughters, Deborah (Robert) Szukala and Maryann (Edward) Cutlip. Andrew's legacy lives on in his six grandchildren: Robert Szukala, Amanda (Daryl) Szukala-Vizina, Nicole (Lee) Callegari, Anthony (Jessica) Ruggeri, Angela (Stephen) Pfeifer, Jared Cutlip, and five great-grandchildren: Lauralee and Eden Callegari, Liam and Evelyn Pfeifer, and Shea Andrew Vizina.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Saint Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, located at 23300 King Drive, Clinton Township. A private military burial will be held at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Andrew's name to the Michigan Humane Society or Warriors Hope.
Andrew will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. His legacy of love, devotion, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
