Angeline Buccellato, age 93, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015, a resident of Sanctuary at Bellbrook in Rochester Hills, Michigan. She was born May 15, 1921 in Detroit, daughter of the late Joseph and the late Antoinette (nee: Ruggero) Buccellato. In 1931, at the young age of 10, Angie received her first communion. Eight years later, this strapping young woman would graduate from Detroit's Southeastern High School as part of the Class of 1939. Four years after that, Angie's business skills were recognized when she was hired as a clerk for the automotive giant, General Motors, where she worked in their Receiving Department. After 37 years of loyal and dedicated service, she took her retirement in July of 1980 and walked away from the same desk she worked from throughout all those years. Many years later, while living out her golden years in the Sanctuary at Bellbrook in Rochester Hills, Angie would still arise at 4am and wonder why the staff wouldn't allow her to head off to work. She was just that dedicated. In telling the story of Angie, a prominent mention would definitely have to be her passion for walking. What began as simple strolls through the neighborhood eventually blossomed to participating in walking marathons,...many of which she did for charitable reasons. During her first years at Bellbrook, she was noted for being a resident hall-walker, pounding the carpets daily in an effort of living out the exercise and enjoyment she had known for many years prior. Eventually, her diminishing status compelled her to curtail her walking,...which led to her joining her friends in the hallway as they sat watching the daily activities play out. For Angie, this time also provided her the opportunity of sharing her unique and interesting quips for the passers-by,...quips that were often quite "biting" at times. For those who knew Angie, they realized her darting comments were both harmless and non-respective of personage. They were more entertaining than anything,...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and will surely be missed in the days and weeks ahead. But harkening back to the walking, this would be remiss if not to mention the weekends she enjoyed so much when great-niece, Kelly came to visit. From their walks to K-Mart to their cookie baking moments together, Angie was always blessed and happy when Kelly-came-a-calling!Then there were the Bus Trips! From the trips to the parks for picnics, courtesy of the Warren Parks & Recreation Department,...to" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...to the trips down 12 Mile Road en route to Universal City or the Macomb Mall for a little shopping excursion, Angie became quite fond of hopping aboard the "happy Bus" to Merchandise Heaven. And Angie was always a "lady." Yes, she was actually one of those old world women who always had a purse clutched to her arm. Later in life, her purse held 2 main essentials,...her niece, Marie's telephone number, and some Kleenex. Marie held a most special place in her heart. Since she had no children of her own, Angie looked to Marie like the daughter she never had,...and somebody she humbly depended on. Friendship was also important in Angie's world, and she had many special ones at that. From many of her former co-workers at GM with whom she maintained lasting relationships over the years,...to some of the more recent acquaintance made amongst her fellow Red Hat Society members,...friendship reigned supreme and was something she held close to her heart. She was also a woman of strong & abiding faith, and a proud member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Warren,...another place where she was blessed with a host of wonderful friendships enjoyed throughout her life. And lastly, how will we, now, go on without hearing that unique and riveting phrase of Angie's,..."Such Rubbish"...???Angie was the beloved sister of the late Leonard, the late Nicholas, and the late John. She is survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. Visitation for Angie will be held Saturday, May 9th from 3:00 - 7:30 pm, with a 7:30 pm Funeral Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren. Memorial donations are welcomed to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1820 Mt. Elliott Street, Detroit, MI 48207. Please share memories of Angie at her memory book above.
