
Arthur E. Markowski "Ozzie", 79, of Warren, died October 16, 2004 at St. John Macomb Hospital. Mr. Markowski was born August 4, 1925 in Detroit to Edmund and Bernice Markowski. He always loved the old neighborhoods in the city. His father was a butcher and as a young man he worked in the family grocery store. At a local soda fountain he met his wife, Mary, who worked there. After meeting her, he told a friend he had just met the woman he would marry. Arthur worked as a crane operator at Central Steel and Wire for 41 years. He was a proud Union committeeman and a staunch democrat. Music was very important to Arthur, he especially loved jazz, big band, swing and Frank Sinatra. He loved his cars and always kept them in mint condition. He enjoyed long car rides and loved northern Michigan and camping. He was an avid baseball fan. Even though he was unable to finish high school, Arthur was able to talk expertly to anyone on any topic. He was self-taught in most subjects and had a strong sense of curiosity. One of his favorite subjects was the stock market. He loved to play it and talk about it. Arthur was so devoted to and proud of his family. They said he was "truly a smashing success in regard to his family". His greatest gifts to his children are the wonderful memories he left with them. He is the loving and devoted husband of Mary; beloved and wonderful father of Laura (Walter) Etten, Edward (Laurice) and Carol (Eric) Kyser; fun-loving grandfather of Sara and Rebecca and great grandfather of Matthew. Dearest brother of Rose Grillo, Alfrieda Kemp and the late Edward, Jane and Virginia. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, October 21 at St. Sylvester Church. He will be in state at 11:30 am with a mass 12:00 noon. Visitation is Tuesday 5-9 and Wednesday 1-9 pm with a rosary, 7:00 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover at Common (12 1/2 Mile). Memorial donations are appreciated to the American Heart Association. "BYE BYE, SO LONG, THAT'S THE NAME OF MY SONG - OZ"
