

Betty DeGrandchamp, age 90, died Sunday, February 5, 2017 at her home in Warren, Michigan surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born March 7, 1926 in Wales, United Kingdom, daughter of the late William George Edmunds and the late Beatrice Mary (nee: Jenkins) Edmunds.Betty came with her family to the United States at the very young age of two. She was raised in Detroit, Michigan and attended Eastern High School. Following her schooling, Betty went to work for the Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Company.Betty would eventually meet and marry the love of her life, Robert R. DeGrandchamp in 1948. The young couple settled in on the east side of Detroit and started a family. Betty and her family were active members of St. Raymond Catholic Church where Betty was a member of the Altar Society. She would continue to live and raise her children in Detroit before moving to the suburbs in 1982.Betty worked for over 30 years for the J.L. Hudson Department Store at the Eastland Mall. She worked her entire career within the linen department, a job and department that she loved dearly.When Betty was not working her focus was cleaning her home, caring for her family, and singing around the home while doing her work. She was a diehard Detroit Tigers fan and also enjoyed visiting the casinos. Quiet time for Betty was usually spent reading or watching old movies. Her family will cherish the memories of shopping with Mamie and also enjoying her baked banana nut bread.Mrs. DeGrandchamp was the beloved wife of the late Robert R. DeGrandchamp, and dear mother of Gail (Glenn) Berlin, Robert E. (Carol) DeGrandchamp, William (Barbara) DeGrandchamp, and Thomas DeGrandchamp. Mother in-law of Lorette Cordes, and cherished Mamie of Michelle (John) Leone, Brian Berlin, Lisa Berlin (Jash Chavero), Cristina (John) Murphy, John (Mary) DeGrandchamp, Danielle (Andrew) Smith, Kimberly (Charles) Winsor, Cheryl (Kevin) Chovance, Lexie DeGrandchamp, and Hayley DeGrandchamp. Loving great-grandmother of Anna, Grayson, Charles, Kameryn, Chasen, and Klayton. Sister of Joan (Mike) Lombardo, William (Judy) Edmunds, Phillip (Chris) Edmunds, and the late Trevor Edmunds, the late Robert (Carmen) Edmunds. Sister in-law of Gloria Edmunds. Mrs. DeGrandchamp's family will receive friends and guests on Saturday, February 11th from 10:30 am until time of her Memorial Mass at 11:00 am at St Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Road, Warren, MI 48093.
