Charlotte Helene Winter, age 94 of Clinton Township, died Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at home under the loving care of her family and the folks at Hospice of Michigan. She was born April 29, 1926 in Reinenbach, Germany, daughter of the late Paul William and the late Helene Louise (nee: Franke) Mager.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Charlotte leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love and a host of special memories to be embraced with each reflection shared. She touched a multitude of hearts and souls in her journey this side of Heaven, may she now enjoy the glories on the other side as she rests safely in the arms of God. She will be missed beyond expression and loved beyond measure.
Charlotte worked as a private cook to several homes in the Grosse Pointes. Being of German decent, she provided her employers with both American and German cuisine for which she was well known. Charlotte's European style tortes were among her best desserts, and Charlotte's love for chocolate was usually incorporated within her baking.
Charlotte also loved to travel, with her many trips to Europe being among her favorite. Day trips driving along the blue waters of Michigan's coast were also big on her list, along with stops for lunch, coffee and of course, dessert! Charlotte also loved to dance and do things with her family.
No one ever had a better at home companion than Charlotte's bird of 27 years named Cookie. Cookie was a beautiful bright colored Lory Parrot with a vocabulary of 100 plus words, both in German and English, often spoken "On Cue" as to what was going on in the room. Her bird was, "One smart Cookie"
Charlotte was the former wife of the late Ludwig. Loving mother of Judy Lisoski and Doris (Mike) Burke. Beloved grandmother of Angela (Matthew) DeWater, Michelle (Phil) Quinley, and great-grandmother of Jackson and Luke. Sister of Ursula Klemm and Gerhard Mager.
A Memorial Visitation for Charlotte will be held Saturday, September 12th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, with a Memorial Service from 12:00 - 12:30 pm, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren, Michigan. A luncheon will follow the service with the location yet to be announced.
