Chester Joseph Filipkowski

Chester J. Filipkowski age 69, quietly went into eternity on December 6, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Mary Lynn (Homanick) for more than 23 years. Dear father of Adam, Daniel, Matthew (Stacy), step-father to Jennifer (Jesse) Pisha-Rude. Loving grandfather to Benjamin and Austin, step-grandfather to Zachary and Samantha. Son of the late Chester and Stephanie, brother to Rose, Sylvia (Ray) Kusza and John (the late Kathleen). Son-in-law to Mary Homanick, brother-in-law of Robert (Marge) Homanick. Surived by nieces Monica and Jessica, nephew John M., step-nieces Megan and Katy and several aunts and cousins. Chester was born in Detroit on May 26, 1943, graduated from St. Andrews High School in 1961, received Masters degree from Central Michigan University, served in the Air Force from 1966-1972. Auditor for the Defense Contract Audit Agency and pricing supervisor/contracting officer for the Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command with a combined Federal service of 33 years. He was blessed to have been retired for over 13 years. Enjoyed cooking, gardening, antiques, working with wood and his grandchildren to whom he was "Papa". He was a kind, generous, beautiful person to family and friends. Chet touched the life of so many people and he will be unbearably missed. A loving thank you to Jessica Pilarski for being his wonderful caretaker and friend, whenever I needed her for the past year. His internment will be a private family gathering. Memorial visitation will be Saturday, December 22, 10:30 am-12:30 pm with a 11:30 am Memorial Service at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road).
