Dennis Michael Hallman, age 66, died Monday, June 3, 2019 at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren. He was born August 11, 1952 in Detroit, son of the late Florian Joseph and the late Helen Theresa (nee: Kozlowski) Hallman.
As a skilled laborer in the automotive industry, Dennis worked long and hard hours, and was truly dedicated to each job at hand. Working all those hours, Dennis’ down time was filled by many of the various pastimes he enjoyed so well,…like his passion for reading. When he was seeking something a bit more on the quiet side, curling up with a good book often provided Dennis the perfect getaway and escape from the stresses and demands of life, and he had amassed quite the collection of books.
Another of Dennis’ favorite pastimes was enjoyed around the card table with family and friends in a friendly game of poker. Nothing says fun quite like getting some card sharks together,…slingin’ some cards amidst the competition and camaraderie,…and playing for the pot!
The remainder of things that Dennis loved doing were pretty much wrapped up in the world of sports,…especially when it came to football at the “Big House” when the University of Michigan Wolverines were on the field. Of course, the venue really didn’t matter. All that mattered is that the guys in the Amazing Blue & Gold were scorin’ the most points! As for Dennis’ sporting pleasures he enjoyed playing, his younger years were immersed in the game of softball. Soon, the All-American sport of bowling would enter the scene and find Dennis feeding off the joys of a little pin action,…and the endless pursuit of that “hard to pin down” 300 Game. Whether he was competing on a league level or simply engaging some friends in an afternoon of fun, Dennis just loved sharing his love of bowling with others. And the story of Dennis’ sporting highlights just wouldn’t be complete without mentioning his passion for golf. Always in search of that elusive Hole-in-One, heading out on the links on a sunny day made for some great entertainment and a storehouse of wonderful memories with both friends and loved ones.
But of all that garnered joy in Dennis’ life, little could match that which he found in the company of family and friends sharing the simple pleasures of life and making those lasting memories that would forever warm his heart. He leaves a storehouse of precious memories in his wake, and a legacy to be cherished with each reflection shared. He touched a multitude of hearts and souls in his journey through life, may he now rest in peace as he is enjoys the embrace of God’s loving arms.
Dennis was the beloved son of the late Florian and Helen Hallman. Dearest brother of Ronald (Angie) Hallman, Geraldine (the late Frank) De Santis, Janice (the late Joseph) Winowski, Diane (George) Downey, and Donna Gonzalez. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces & nephews.
Visitation for Dennis will be held Wednesday, June 5th from 3-9 pm, with a 7 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd.) in Warren.
His Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Fr. Jack Baker. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan.
