Lucille Buckley, age 98, died Saturday, April 4, 2015 at her home in Avoca. Lucille was born February 14, 1917 in Linwood, Michigan, daughter of the late Frank and the late Ida (nee Basney) DuChene.First & foremost, Lucille was a loving wife to her beloved, Joseph,...and a caring mother to her four beautiful children. She was a consummate homemaker and poured her utmost into nurturing the warmth of family. Yet as hard as she worked, she also knew the joy of having fun and creating a healthy balance in life,...which often meant a day trip to the casino. There was always something special and exhilarating about giving Ol" Lady Luck a run for her money, and Lucille gave those one-armed-bandits quite a workout. She was simply a kind soul who loved being around people, and she was born with a "song in her heart." All throughout her journey in life, Lucille was often heard singing a tune and sharing the music within her soul. And from her other side, (in loving support of her husband, of course), came the memories of when she would accompany Joseph on various hunting ventures. Perhaps a little bold on her part, but poignant as well. Yet without question, spending time with her family was her greatest joy and pleasure,...especially as her role of Grandma continued to grow throughout the generations. Family meant the world to Lucille, and she was certainly blessed with a wonderful and loving bunch of arrows to add to her quiver.Following Joseph's retirement, the two lovebirds decided to head northward to some of Michigan's beautiful backwoods country where they set their new stakes in the hamlet of Gladwin. For the next 30 years, Lucille considered herself richly gifted by being amidst some of the Mitten's most gorgeous and serene environs. The country life suited her well and was a welcomed change from the concrete jungle further south. And further country living was enjoyed when she relocated to her son & daughter-in-law's home in Avoca. During the last year of her life, she found her new home to be a scenic splendor as she enjoyed looking out the window to see the indigenous wildlife,...especially the deer and birds.A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Lucille touched a multitude of hearts and lives throughout her journey, and leaves a legacy of love to be treasured with each reflection shared. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Lucille was the beloved wife of the late Joseph, who preceded her in death in 2006. She was the loving mother of Maynard Buckley, Chris (the late Raymond) Malkiewicz, Virginia (the late Joe) Grzech, and Joseph (Nancy) Buckley. Dear sister of Virginia Kott. Lucille is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchilden.
