Florence was a proud lifelong Michigander who blazed trails from an early age—her family was the first on the block to own a television. She graduated from Commerce High School and went on to work as a secretary to the police chief of Hazel Park, a position she held with dedication and pride until her retirement. In 1955, Florence married the love of her life, Nicholas, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage until his passing in 2019. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
Florence was deeply social and community-oriented. She was a cherished member of the Haylofters—a close-knit group of five couples who began as square dancers and became lifelong friends. The group shared countless memories through trips, camping adventures, and celebrations of life’s many milestones. Her vibrant spirit also found a home with the Keepsake Patroller Hallmark Club, the Red Hat Society, and the congregation at Hope Lutheran Church.
An avid traveler, Florence visited all 50 states. She found joy in collecting rocks and coins, but nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her grandchildren and her beloved great-grandson. Florence’s warmth, curiosity, and joyful energy will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Florence was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas. Loving mother of Cheryl (Larry) Cosgrove and Kimberly (Jason) Pernick. Cherished grandmother of Christopher (Rachael), Chase (Caitlin), Riley (Molly), and Kerry (Ron). Adored great-grandmother of Cohen. Dear sister of Harry Cunningham and Sylvia Quayle. Predeceased by her beloved companion, Coco.
