Gerald Kroll, age 73 of Clarkston, died September 3, 2020 at the Clarkston Specialty Health Care Facility in Clarkston, Michigan. He was born February 3, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Nick and the late Amelia (nee: Kula) Kroll.
Answering the call of Uncle Sam in July of 1966, Gerald served our country with honor and distinction as a soldier in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. Ultimately attaining the rank of Sergeant, he would serve just under 2 years, with most of that time spent in foreign assignments as a Military Police Officer, until receiving his honorable discharge on June 6, 1968. So it is, with thanks and praise from a grateful nation, that we pay homage to Gerald's service and extend our posthumous gratitude for his willingness to stand in harm's way in support of America's Army.
Following his time in the Army, part of Gerald's post-war activities included his esteemed and lifetime membership with VFW Post 6756 in Center Line, Michigan.
Gerald was the dear brother of Paul (Janice) Kroll. Former husband of Carol. Dear uncle of Laura, Jon, Michelle, and Mark.
Visitation for Gerald will take place on Sunday, September 6th from 4-9 pm, with a 7 pm Prayer Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren, MI 48093.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed to the VFW Post 6756, Cpl. Richard W. Menge Post, 25500 Sherwood Ave, Warren, MI 48091.
A private family burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at a later date.
