Henry J.Milewski, age 95, died Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Bortz Health Care in Warren. He was born March 8, 1918 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late John Milewski and the late Josephine (nee: Kozlowski) Milewski. The "Magic of Marriage" is definitely found in the biblical principle that "the two shall become one,"...and this was never more evident than in the love Henry shared with his bride of 72 years, Mary. In his own right, he was a unique and genuine man who possessed many wonderful qualities. Yet there's no mistaking the fact, part of Henry was truly found in the warmth of the relationship he and Mary lived. On October 25, 1941, at St. Florian Catholic Church in Hamtramck, the two promised themselves to each other, went on to build a loving home for their three boys and one daughter, and grew deeper in love each passing day. Nurturing that love came very easy for Henry, and their marriage made an incredible impact on many lives throughout the years. Henry was extremely attentive to Mary, and his romantic heart was felt in a lot of ways. Perhaps one of the greatest examples of his caring nature was when the two of them were getting ready to go out he was a pure gentleman by being her personal chauffeur taking her anywhere she wanted to go. It was just one of the many ways that he shared his devotion throughout almost three-quarters of a century together. For most of his working life, Henry was employed with the Chrysler Company where he was a product controller. With over 38 years of loyal and dedicated service to the firm, Henry decided it was time to hang up the work hat in exchange for the rest hat as he sought retirement in the 80's. Following his retirement, like many in their new status of unemployment, Henry managed to keep himself busy. One of his tasks was found by watching his grandchildren graduate from high school. Henry left school to join the work force at such an early age that he gave up going to school so that he could help pay the bills at home. After watching his grandchildren receive their diplomas he decided to go back to school. At the age of 72, Henry received his High School Diploma from Lincoln High School in Warren. The list of odd jobs continues with his "honey do" list from his wife, being an usher for the church, a member of the Dad's Club, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a long-time board member of the Tandem Federal Credit Union. When he wasn't working or tied up with retirement projects, one of Henry's favorite pastimes was enjoying a rousing game of cards,…and the choice was often the ever-familiar, Pinochle. Together with Mary and a couple of their friends, there were many fun and entertaining evenings shared in friendly competition around the family table. Other pastime passions included watching the Tigers, Red Wings, and the Lions on television. Thinking back, the most precious retirement duty he held was being able to play the role of babysitter to his cherished grandchildren. They were the apple of his eye and each moment in their presence brought him unspeakable joy. Though he was blessed with longevity, it's still never easy to say good-bye. Yet there's no question that, throughout his long life, Henry spent each and every day bringing joy to the lives of others,…especially his beloved family. He leaves behind a legacy of love as unique as the person he was, and that legacy will continue to touch hearts and lives with each warm and loving reflection. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, there's no doubt that His father in Heaven is bound to say; "Well done my good and faithful servant." He was the beloved husband of 72 years to Mary (nee:Sikorski). Devoted father of Henry (Becky), James (Sharon), Robert (Nancy) Milewski, and the late Joan (the late Glenn) Wrubel. Loving grandfather of Michael (Jeri) Wrubel, Theresa (Gasper) Buffa, Jennifer (Michael) Doeden, Janet Laturi, Matthew (Amy Ann) Milewski, Mary Beth (Matthew) Rost, Dr. Amy (Dr. Keith) Mckenzie, Dr. Jeffery (Kristin) Milewski, Dr. Amanda (Chris) Brown, Ann Marie (Mark) Agnetti, Brendan (Angela) Milewski, Tracy (Kris) Pagel, and the late Brian Wrubel. Dearest great grandfather of Jacqueline, Jessica, and Samantha Laturi, Ava Pagel, Gavin, Garrett, and Grant Mckenzie, Lauren, and Max Milewski, Cruz Brown, Audrey, and Aaron Rost, and Ellis Agnetti. Henry was the brother of the late Stella (the late Stanley) Bialas, and the late Helen (the late Archie) Landyczkowski. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
