He was born on November 29, 1922 on the Isle of Wight in England, the son of the late Douglas and the late Carolyn (nee: Miller) Roberts. In 1959, at the age of 37, Henry decided to leave his native England and set out towards the America's. He settled first in Toronto, Canada, where he spent the next five years. In 1964, the itch came to move again, and this time he chose Michigan as his new home. It is there he would spend the duration of his passionate and eclectic life. Spending most of his life as a single man, Henry's world was gloriously changed when, at the age of 69, he promised himself in marriage to the love of his life, Foong Lee. Betrothed in 1992, they shared a loving relationship as husband & wife for over 19 years together. Henry was employed with the General Motors Corporation where he exuded his skills as a Design Engineer. For 27 years, he extended the utmost in dedicated and loyal service to GM until his retirement in 1991. When he wasn't working, Henry found great enjoyment in exercising his inherent & creative talents, most of which were centered in the handmade realm of ceramics and bronze sculpting. Some of his prized ceramic pieces included his famous bells and dragons. And not only was this a personal exemplification of his creativity, but he took it to the classroom as well as a teacher at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit. Another of Henry's favorite pastimes was his love of traveling. Along with enjoying the scenic splendor of his ventures, he had a devout penchant for seeking out museums, art galleries, and vintage book shops. With an eclectic array of tastes and desires, Henry was always looking to build upon the beauty of life as seen through the works of other talented artist's. His journeys were always special and rewarding, and provided many pleasurable moments to reflect upon. Henry was a man of many passions who, forever, sought the gusto in life. Along with all of the above, he was also renowned for his impressive kite making skills, his infectious sense of humor, and his longstanding work on his infamous time machine. With all of his talents and gifts, we honor Henry for his own brand of beauty that he brought to this life, and for how it touched the lives of many along the way. Henry was the beloved husband of Foong Lee. He is also survived by his two brothers, John and Francis, both of whom reside in southern England. Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S.
