Hilda Mercer

Hilda Marie Mercer, age 95 a longtime resident of Warren, died Wednesday, July 06, 2011 at Autumn Woods Health Care Facility in Warren Michigan. Hilda was born November 01, 1915 in Prospect, Kentucky the daughter of the late Guy Capps and the late Amy (nee: Wilcox) Capps. Hilda was raised in Kentucky and came to Michigan to visit her boyfriend whom she had met when he was living in Kentucky. Later she and Cortland would marry and remain in Michigan. Mrs. Mercer worked for over 30 years for Swedish-Crucible Steel Company as a packaging specialist. When Mrs. Mercer was not working she enjoyed her domestic duties around her home, and also keeping the household immaculate. Hilda was a wonderful cook and baker and her daughter remembers fondly the great pies and cakes. Also Hilda and her husband would travel back to Kentucky every year to visit family. Mrs. Mercer was the beloved wife of the late Cortland, and the dear mother of Kaaren Zemsta. She is also the loving grandmother of Marc (Cheryl) Zemsta, Scott (Maryanne) Zemsta, and great-grandmother of Nicholas, Jessica, and Jacob. Visitation for Mrs. Mercer will be Friday from 6-9pm, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile). Funeral Services will be held Saturday 11am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak Michigan. Please share memories of Hilda at her guest book.
