Irene Mary (Szulecki) Szal

Szal, Irene Mary (Szulecki) was born into Eternal Life on November 26, 2012 at the age of 94. Beloved daughter of the late John and Anna Szulecki. For 70 years, Irene was the cherished wife of Louis B. Szal until his death in 2010.She is mourned at her passing by her six children; Roger, Rev. George Szal, S.M., Alan, Diana (Thomas) Van Loon, Elaine, and Brian (Martha). Loving grandmother of Amma, Amy, Dave, Lindsay, Jessica, Mac, Kevin, William, Clifton, Adam, Kristin, and great-grandmother of Stella Rose, Cameron, Makenna, Simone, Jacob, William, Seina, and Zyronni. Irene was predeceased by her sister, Eugenia Szulecki and brother, Jessel Suley.A devout Catholic and homemaker, Irene took care of her parents and other relations in their last days. She was a regular communicant at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Parish in Detroit with a great devotion to the Eucharist, the daily rosary, the Divine Mercy and Our Lady of Perpetual Help novenas, and to pro-life causes. In her younger days, Irene was an active member of the St. Anne's Sodality, the De La Salle Mothers' Club, and the Marist Mothers. She received the Last Sacraments before her death. Set among the company of the blessed, may she enjoy the sweetness of the contemplation of her God forever and ever.Visitation for Irene will be held on Thursday, November 29th from 3-9pm, with a 7pm rosary service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. She will lie in state from 10:00am until time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30am at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 8200 Rolyat St., Detroit, MI 48234. Officiating the liturgy will be her son, Rev. Fr. George Szal.
