

John Robert “Jack” Molloy, age 89 of Clinton Township, Michigan, died April 23, 2020 at his home in Clinton Township. Survived by wife Patricia, Children Daniel (Robyn), Susan Pruski (Mike), and David (Rose). Grandchildren Michael Pruski (Katie), Jack (fiancé Stephanie Dygert), Kyle, and Allison. Preceded in death by his parents Robert and Alice Molloy, brother Donald and sister Mary Holler.
Jack Molloy was born in Royal Oak during the Great Depression. He was the youngest of three children and lost his father at a young age. He was a student at South Lake High School and graduated in 1949. He went to junior college studying journalism at Highland Park Junior College for a year but was drafted into the army in 1951. He served during the Korean War in Germany in the Army Band and as a courier where he achieved the rank of Corporal. Upon his discharge, Jack went to work for General Motors as an apprentice engineer where he met and married his wife, Pat. Jack studied mechanical engineering in night school at Lawrence Institute of Technology and graduated with a BSME in 1966 and went to work for Manufacturing Engineering in the plastics division at the GM Tech Center in Warren. He worked at GM for 36 years eventually achieving Group Manager position. After retirement from GM, Jack took a position as GM Salesman at Progressive Tool (PICO) in Southfield. He worked at PICO for seven years and retired for good in 1994.
Jack was a lifelong multi-instrument musician. He began with the violin when he was about 10 years old and taught himself to play. He also learned the “C” melody horn brass instrument and eventually was introduced to the saxophone which he played in high school and during his time in the Army Band. When he was 21 years old, he was required by his band to play the piano and learned how to play by ear. He performed with groups all over Michigan for his whole life and only retired from active “band jobs” in the last 3 years of his life. Throughout his life, he played Violin, “C” Melody Horn, Tenor Saxophone, Alto Saxophone, Clarinet, String Bass, Electric Bass Guitar, Piano, Harmonica, Ukulele, and in later years was a vocalist.
Jack also enjoyed camping with his family and he took them on many adventures in the travel trailer through the years. On many of these trips, Jack liked to practice his hobby of photography taking many pictures of nature and places of interest.
In later years, Jack was well cared for in his home by his caregivers Susan Partida, Pam McKuen, Beth Dolan, and Marissa Regan. These ladies were very kind to him and he was grateful to them for his excellent care. He also received great assistance from Grace Hospice.
Jack was a lifelong Catholic and rarely missed church. Always quick with a joke, Jack was well known for his humor and wit. He was also always willing to help anyone who needed it. Jack was well loved by many people and he will be sorely missed.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday June 20, 2020, 10:00 am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church (formerly St. Germaine), 28301 Little Mack Avenue in St. Clair Shores, Michigan
Jack will be interred at Acacia Park Cemetery in Beverly Hills, Michigan.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren, Michigan.
