

John Charles Baird, 89, of Warren, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at his home. He was born on December 25, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of David H. and Lyndon (nee Kobel) Baird. John was united in marriage to Katy Clarice Day on August 5, 1943 in Kansas City, Kansas. He served in the Army Air Corps as a C47 pilot during World War II and survived being shot down during the Battle of the Bulge. He retired in 1986 after working as an engineer for over 35 years on the General Motors Technical Center Design Staff (Styling). He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars-Bruce Post. John was a loving and devoted husband and father, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Katy Clarice; his children, Virginia (Mike) Jackson-Bezeau, Carolyn A. Mills, David J. Baird and J. Michael (Sandra) Baird; grandchildren, Tammey, Carrie, David, Penny, Shawn and Aaron; and great-grandchildren, Brandy, M. Luke, Reagan, Jenna, Andrea, Emily, Zachary, Riley, Carlin, Cecilia, Ryan, Charlotte, Matthew and Patrick. Arrangements were handled through D. S.
