John F. Gray, age 72 of Sterling Heights, died Monday, December 7, 2009 at his home. He was born October 19, 1937 in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Spencer and the late Anna (nee: Leib) Gray. Known for being quite intelligent, it's no mystery that John chose the field of engineering for his career path where he exuded his talents and expertise as a Mechanical Engineer in the automotive industry. Following his many years of dedicated service and strong work ethics, John retired from the Stellar Engineering firm in Sterling Heights. When he wasn't working, John loved to travel and also enjoyed a good game of golf. But whatever it was that filled his down time, the most important part of it all for John was that it involve his family and friends. They were all precious and treasured to him, especially the grandkids. His grandchildren were his greatest pride & joy, and he cherished each visit and memory that was made. Grandpa and his kids enjoyed each others company so much, it's as if he, basically, raised them. John was also known for being strong and solid of character. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, you could rest assured that it would be profound. The words were few, but their content was always meaningful. Perhaps that is a strong factor as to why his earthly angels couldn't get enough of their Granddad. John leaves behind a legacy of love and care that will be both revered and missed together. Beloved husband of Madonna (nee: Grieshaber). Dear father of Patrick (Christy) Logan, Lisa (Dana) Holmes-Rench, and Michael (Barb) Logan. Loving grandfather of Adam & Daniel Holmes, Patrick Rench, and Ashlyn Logan. Brother of Florence Babcock, Ella (Bob) Jones, Arthur (Ethel) Gray, Idella Burchett, and the late Edward Gray and Betty Lindsay. Visitation for John will be on Friday, December 11 from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd.) in Warren. His funeral service will be at 10:00am on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are appreciated to Beaumont Hospice, 1200 Stephenson Highway, Troy, MI 48083-1115. Please share memories of John at his guest book.
