
John David Wolak, 76 Johnny the Barber, of Warren, died Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at St. John Macomb Hospital Center in Warren. John was born in Detroit, Michigan the son of the late Peter Wolak and the late Rose (nee: Bielet) Wolak. John attended Wilbur Wright High School and graduated in 1948. After high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served his country for 4 years during the Korean Conflict. While serving with the Marines he developed interest in becoming a barber. After he was discharged he went on to school at Greens Barber College. Mr. Wolak was lucky enough to be able to open his own store in 1956 as "Johnny's Barber Shop" where he developed his nickname "Johnny the Barber". His shop was the kind of place where many would come in to hang out and have a cup of coffee. Everyone was always welcome at Johnnys Barber Shop.. Mr. Wolak was a lifetime member with the American Polish Century Club, and the VFW Club. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He enjoyed staying busy with his business and clubs, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. John will be remembered for always pulling out his bag of tricks and play cards with friends and family. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 53 years Alice, his daughter Yolanda Johnson (Robert Henkel), his granddaughters Tanya Johnson, and Corrie Johnson, great- granddaughter Kindal Matthews, Siblings Ted Wolak, Steve (Mary) Wolak, Anna Pazas, and Bernice (Al) Olejnicezak. He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Wolak, and his mother, Rose Bielet. Visitation for Mr. Wolak will be held at D. S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home on Friday from 3-9 pm. Funeral services will be held January 27, 2007 at 11:30 A.M. at the D. S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile). Officiating the funeral will be Rev.
