Joseph William Provost ,age 61, diedMonday, March 14, 2016 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan. Joseph was born September 27, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Ernest Provost and the late Rita (nee: Traciak) Provost. Joseph was raised in Warren and graduated from East Detroit High School. Following high school, Joe attended college and also worked numerous jobs from automotive to refrigeration. In his early years, Joseph worked at a local service station for the Boron Gas Company where he worked side by side with his best friend. Not only at work, but away from the job as well, Joseph was known for being the go-to guy for repairing cars,...and did so in many people's garages around town. And so it was, while exacting his skills one day in a friends garage, that Joseph's life took on new and wonderful meaning when he met the girl that eventually became his wife & soulmate. Joseph and his bride, Cynthia were married on January 10, 1976, with the two being inseparable and completely in love for over 40 years.Joseph had a gifted, mechanical mind; he always sought to learn more information on numerous mechanical and automotive topics. Joe was certified as a automotive mechanic, and received his certification in refrigeration as well. He worked for many years at the Ford Motor Company's Transmission Testing Facility in Livonia as a Technology Specialist until accepting his well-deserved retirement. When Joe was not working, his passion was truly to be surrounded by family,...with a close second being that of working on cars. Joe would help just about anyone fix their vehicle; there never seemed to be a problem on a car that Joe could not solve. Joe enjoyed other passions as well, one of which included listening to all types of music and singing with his buddies in the St. Clair Shores Barbershop Quartet. He often told long stories that were wrapped in the laughter of an ending joke. Joe had a great sense of humor and, at times, was a bit cynical,...but always in fun. He enjoyed reading and watching anything to do with Sci-Fi, with two of his favorites being Star Trek and Star Wars...he simply loved the entire science fiction genre.Joseph Provost was the beloved husband of Cynthia Provost, and is the loving father of Rosanne Provost (Pat Lee), Christine (George) Mussall, and John Provost. He was the devoted grandfather of Jacob, Allyssa, George IV, Paris John II, and Brayden. Joe was the brother of Edward (Cindielee) Provost, Daniel (Ann Marie) Provost, and Jennifer Krueger.
