Joseph Manuel Rivas, age 68 of Vassar, Michigan, (and formerly of Warren), passed away suddenly on Sunday evening, September 23, 2018 at home. He was born on June 8, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Manuel and the late Florence (nee; Jamison) Rivas.Joe had a wonderful personality, as well as a joke or one-liner for any situation. He was a spiritual person that loved to travel and had many friends all over the country. Joe retired after many years of service with the City of Warren.Surviving family include his son, Michael Rivas of Warren; sisters, Linda Behrendt of Bloomfield Hills and Katherine Thomas of Clinton Township; brother, Thomas (Deborah) Green of St. Clair, and many nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Green; father, Manuel Rivas, and nephew, Alton Lee Carr.A Celebration of Life, honoring Joe, will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at the D.S.
